Raikot to Fairy Meadows A Mind blowing experience
Raikot Bridge to Fairy Meadows
There are moments in your life when you have fears and hesitations
but you still don’t give up on something for the sake of doing it for passion
for love, that’s the moment where you start discovering the secrets where you
start learning, getting yourself out of your comfort zone getting over you
deadliest fears really pave your personality. This a story where I got ove
Fairy Meadows is known all over the world for many reasons like
it’s the way towards the Nanga Parbat internationally known as the Killer
Mountain it is the second highest mountain of Pakistan after K2 and 9th highest in the world, the beauty of Fairy Meadows is also reason of its fame but in my
opinion the biggest reason of the fame of Fairy Meadows is the trail which
leads to the it.
The fairy Meadows is accessible through only one route form RaiKot Bridge. Raikot is at a distance of 155 km from Naran Valley it take almost 3.5 hours to reach here from Naran . This bridge is established on the Indus River its a kind of Jeep stop for the Fairy Meadows and this is where the exhibition starts you can book your Jeep for the 3rd deadliest jeep track of the world, Yes you read it right Nanga Parbat pass jeep track is ranked as the 3rd deadliest track of the world its a 90 mins man paved zigzag road so driving through this towering high mountains is not for everyone and only few have the heart to drive through it and likewise sitting in this jeep is also a test for the City slickers. This single lane road with the descending abyss just around you at less than a one feet distance can be the greatest fear you will ever experience in your life yet it is a thrill for few. This breathtaking track finishes at jeep stop at the Village called Tattu and this is where the trailhead begins.Tattu village has wooden cottages where they can host upto 50 visitors , usually people stay there for a night when they arrive late in the evening and start the trek fresh in the morning.
The trail starts from the Tattu and it take almost 4 hours to reach Fairy Meadows , this trail takes you from the Alpine forest with small ponds in between , the trail gradually climbs incline for 3 hours and it get steeper for 1 hour , from here you can choose to hire a horse or a jackal or you can hike on foot .
There are huts on the way where you can rest and have snacks , you will also meet with alot of foreign tourist and climbers and by talking to them you will learn that how famous Pakistan is in the world specially for its mountains and Northern side , after this tiring trek when you will reach fairy meadows and the view will freshen you up.
As the name suggest it is really a fairy land , lush green meadow with tall Alpine trees around it and Nanga Parbat setting in its background , truly an art of mother nature this place has an aroma that can never be forgotten , you can stay in the Wooden huts here paying reasonable prices but the food Menu in here is very limited which is understandable knowing the fact that there are no real means of transport. In the day you can sit right in the middle of the meadow under the shadow of gigantic Nanga Parbat and enjoy the pleasing view of this monster covered under the blanket of snow , watching this scene from this close is a view you can never get tired of , you can also visit the reflection lake just at the other side of it. At night you can sing and dance in the bonfire although the weather wont allow you to sit outside of the hut for too long.
Its a place which's vibe will be saved in your mind for a life time its a mind blowing and life time experience with so many learning and memories , from Fairy Meadows you can go ahead to the Beyal camp and Nanga Parbat base camp which is the destination of the climbers form all over the world. The descending trek is not that difficult obviously you can reach to the Jeep stop where your diver will be waiting for you and take you to the Raikot bridge , on your way back you can enjoy the thrilling jeep track again while thinking about the beauty of this fairy land and wondering if you will ever get a chance to comeback here again ?
