Attabad Lake : A Master class of Nature created by a Disaster

Mother Nature surprises a human mind in every aspect , the more you explore and understand it the more it will make you feel smaller. The secrets of nature are so astonishing , like how a hand full of grain can turn a land in to Forest , how same soil can produce different colors of flowers and different tasting fruits and how a tiny silk worm produces silk. The mother nature is beneficial to man kind in so many ways yet a few aspects of nature are troublesome and disastrous , but still sometimes nature's tragedy turns into beauty by miracles which are unthinkable and understandable by a human mind. 

In January 2010 , an earthquake caused land sliding At Karimabad Gilgit taking lives of 20 people buried and the path of the Hunza River was blocked and the rising water level displaced hundred of people from their homes and a temporary dam was formed later a 21 km long reservoir of water was formed which is now know as the Attabad Lake. The destroyed road was later rebuilt and International standard tunnels were constructed which are now a part of CPEC project.

Brown Mountains combined with the blue water makes the color of water of this lake beautifully unique that it feels like you are living in a poets dream This long stretched lake can be seen from mile away and from their its water look like a floor of frozen glass like a ball room. The Sea green color of the water is very rare to see in other parts of Pakistan. The atmosphere is so calm and soothing here that you can spent hours and hours here. The mesmerizing landscape of it and the comforting air really charms you , the experience really can't be described through words.

It was not really recognized before but as the tourism industry significantly grew in Pakistan after 2014-15 It has became a prime location for the local tourist and the tourists from all over the world and now it is rated as one of the beautiful lakes of Pakistan. In winters the water of the lake is frozen and in summer (which are not really hot) this lake offers so many activities like boating , jet skiing and fishing. It is also a prime location for shoots of movies and commercials. All the traffic going towards China and coming from China passes from this beautiful lake and that is why this lake has become beneficial for the locals as the Restaurants and hotels have been built here.

Attabad lake's fame is growing day by day now as its beauty is incomparable,  the perfect landscape and the weather really sets the scene here , hundreds of visitors come here daily and thousand pass by it enjoying the eternal beauty of it but very few of them know that the calmness and matchless beauty of this lake is hiding a sorrow of a burried village and 20 lives under it.
